My name is Barry Covin, Master barber and owner of J Cutz barbershop. Born and raised in South Florida, where a friend in high school first showed me how to cut hair. It was extremely hard learning to cut your own hair. After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman for 9 1/2 years.
I moved to Maryland where I attended Bladensburg barber school for a year. In 2005, i was off to begin my barbering career. I spent 3 years in Maryland cutting at Andrew's barbershop with some good guys. That taught my some great things. You don't really learn how to cut hair until you work in a true barbershop.
Then I relocated to Charleston, South Carolina, where i got my Master barber license and opened J Cutz barbershop, LLC in 2010.
J Cutz Barbershop has four 8ft by 8ft private suites. It has a common area for customers where they can enjoy TV or music while waiting for their appointment. We take walk ins as well, when there is no appointment. I specialize in all haircut styles, color, hot towel razor shaves, and hair units.
When not in shop, I enjoys spending time with family. Playing video games, watching movies and basketball with the boys.
